  1. When the Tennessee law was passed, i was curious about the term “narcotic” because it’s not defined in the law. See http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/108/Bill/SB1391.pdf

I looked it up on wikipedia and there it says:

When used in a legal context in the U.S., a narcotic drug is
simply one that is totally prohibited, or one that is used in violation
of strict governmental regulation, such as heroin or morphine.

  2. I think most sensible people understand “narcotics” to mean any illegal drug. But the pro-abort lawyers and the ACLU have grasped on to the etymology of the word, in that it’s root derives from the Latinized Greek “narko” meaning “numb, stupor, or sleep.”

Amphetamines and crystal meth don’t perfectly fit that description… So they apparently think they have a case.

Leave it to the lawyers to split linguistic hairs in an attempt to excuse obviously criminal behavior…

By the way, I believe the Tennessee law may the type of “incremental-ism”, (i.e. failing to ban abortion, but protecting unborn children without further codifying abortion) that I could support… Of course I’d have to read it before I could endorse it, since it too was written by lawyers!
