Bible Study: Cornelius – Saved? or a Sign?
We’ll begin with a dissertation on defining the Lord’s earthly ministry, the confusion caused by red letter bibles, and the many passages that support “rightly dividing the word of truth”, in addition to just II Timothy 2:15.
We’ll examine the events of the ministry of the Holy Spirit after the stoning of Stephen and the scattering of the apostles to get the context of Peter’s encounter with Cornelius, including the signs associated with Simon the Sorcerer, Tabitha’s death and good works, Aeneas’s eight years with the palsy, and Philip’s witness to the Ethiopian eunuch.
We also discuss the biblical meaning of the phrase “going out and coming in” (and why it appears in reverse regarding Paul at Jerusalem in Acts 9). Why are the encouraging reports of rest and multiplication among the Messianic churches in Judea, Samaria and Galilee after the stoning of Stephen and the dispensational shift away from them to the body of Christ that was occurring?
And we’ll read all of Acts 10 to determine whether or not Cornelius was an early gentile member of the body of Christ? or a sign to Peter and all Israel.
