Bible Study: Hebrews Pt II
Heb 1:3-12
We begin in the “last days” of Hebrews 1:3 and study through the use of the term “last days” from Genesis to Acts 2, to the prophets, Paul’s epistles and the circumcision epistles. Along the way we discover the meaning of the title “Lord of sabaoth” and uncover more evidence that might have bearing on the canon as approved by Paul and the prophets of his day.
We’ll look at Jesus’ inheritance, both according to prophecy and according to mystery, and how Junia and Adronicus could have been “in Christ” even before Paul became the first member of the Body of Christ. We then ask why the author credits Jesus Christ with the creation of the “worlds” (plural), and how that is evidence both that Gen 1:1 is an expository statement describing the creation of 2 physical realms, and that the heaven of Gen 1:1 is a physical place that the Son dwelt in, in a physical “image” or form from the beginning.
We then take on the idea that Jesus purged the sins of Israel “by himself.” And we’ll study through what that purging is, and how God could curse Eli and the Aaronic priesthood “forever” because he always intended to replace it with a better priesthood.
We’ll look at the scriptures that indicate that when Jesus returns, and the Body is taken out, in the last days, at the dawn of the end times, there will be a testimony that is perhaps witnessed, or at the very least remains in the written history of the Bible that will be an important part of how blinded Israel sees again; that it was by faith everyone inherited salvation. And they will, beginning with Hebrews read God’s word and become acquainted again with the faith required to save them. And they’ll have Paul to read, giving them the example of the body of Christ.
We conclude with a discussion of the differing demonstrations of faith required at sundry times by God, but how it’s always been the same faith in the same God and the same grace.
