Bible Study: I Corinthians Part IV
I Corinthians Ch 3-4
We examine what the “work” is that will be judged by fire, (and what is gold, solver and precious stone, wood hay and stubble). And we comment on Paul’s affinity for quoting the Old Testament, (and especially Isaiah), and how he adds to it by further revelation of Jesus Christ. We discuss the purpose of the creation and our part in it, and how “you CAN take it with you” when it comes to the work of charity Christ is doing in you!
We’ll go to Philippians to make the case that Paul’s letters, in the order they appear in the Bible are in fact intended as a curriculum to be studied. We’ll examine who God will destroy for defiling the temple of God. We address what Paul insists should not be judged “before the time” (meaning before Christ returns). And we will see what Paul clearly teaches us constitutes “the unity” he commands among believers.
We discuss sarcasm, reproof, rebuke and correction done in charity by Paul, rather than in the flesh, (like I do most of the time), and what Paul really means when he tells the Corinthians and all believers to “follow me.”
