Bible Study: I Corinthians Part XII
I Corinthians 15:35-58 the Seed, the Flesh, the Quickening, Christ’s Human Nature, and the Ultimate Hope of the Resurrection
We start with an examination of “the seed” in regard to resurrection & the Messiah, and then review Paul’s references to fleshly and heavenly bodies, with our assertion as to which Old Testament scripture Paul was referring when he said “it is written, the last Adam became a Quickening Spirit” (Ps 80:17).
We define and discuss quickening in regard to the resurrection, and child killing in the modern west. Find out why Paul places Adam before Christ in his chronology by way of explaining the nature of our resurrection. And learn why there is not, nor can there be a contradiction, or even one error in God’s Word.
I Cor 15 gives more information about the nature of the resurrection than anywhere else in scripture, elucidating the change necessary in our flesh, and the nature of the differing glories of resurrected beings. Will people marry after the resurrection? What does Jesus say? And does that apply? And what does Paul mean by “the last Trump”? Does that mean the rapture comes after the last of the trumpets of Revelation 8?
And finally hear about the sophisticated reference Paul makes to Isaiah 25 in order to teach us the ultimate hope of the resurrection, while rubbing the devil’s nose in the fact that he completely missed the Mystery “hid in God!”
